Thanks Anne Faber for this great documentary about our recordings at the Real World Studios in Bath/UK.
This one’s with english subtitles. Enjoy!
Thanks Anne Faber for this great documentary about our recordings at the Real World Studios in Bath/UK.

Thanks to Anne Faber who spent 2 days with us in the Real World Studios, RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg will air an inside report of our recording session tonight at 19:15.
Big thanks to Anne and see you all tonight on RTL!
In this picture you can see a bunch of happy people.
We finished our recordings here at the Real World Studios today and we’re pretty excited about the results!
We recorded a total of 10 songs (music) and Daniel even got the time to do the vocals for 5 songs. That’s a lot more than we had expected to do here in Bath.
We will leave in the morning with a heavy heart. We enjoyed every minute here. We thank all the nice people from the studio, Jérôme and Maggie, Patrick and all the rest.
A very special thank you goes to José who assisted all of our sessions and did more than we asked for.
And finally, the biggest thank you imaginable goes to our trio of engineers Sam Wirtz, Charles Stoltz and Werner Pensaert for all their efforts and persistance.
Yesterday, Mich and Daniel, a.k.a. the guys with the matching colors, had some fun recording handclaps for the song “Dealing in absolutes”.
That’s a true top-notch hand clapping performance!
Today’s our last day here at the marvelous Real World Studios. But we’re not taking the day off. No way.
Daniel finished the vocals for the song “Change”. So that’s 2 songs done!
After lunch, we will start recording the vocals for “Away”. This will be a challenge!
Wow! We finished all we planned to do this week and we are now officially one day ahead of schedule.
That’s why we used the extra time to start the vocal recordings. Daniel sang tonight all the voices for “You are missing”. So the first song of the album is done!
Now is bedtime! See you in the morning!
Yesterday, when Moarc was on the road to provide some food and drinks for the band, he managed to make this shot.
We still don’t know whether to laugh or cry but we had to show you this one…
We are currently recording the Piano for the song “Dealing in absolutes”.
For friends of knobs and blinking lights, here are some tech pics from the studio.
A couple of days ago, we asked you to guess who’s sleeping in which room.
Well, thanks for playing the game and here’s the lucky winner:
Tanja Fiennes was the closest with only one mistake. Congratulations!
You win one copy of “walk under water” and you will be one of the first to get the new album when it’s out!
And here’s the solution of the riddle: 1. Sam, 2. James & Lento, 3. Daniel, 4. Moarc, 5. Mich.
Wow, we were very productive the last days! We’ve progressed so well that we will try to record a song today that Daniel only wrote a couple of weeks ago.
We’ll see if it makes it to the album.
We finished 2 songs today, “Change” and “You are missing” and we are more than happy with it.
We are progressing so well that we will start to do a couple of vocal takes tomorrow.
Good night and see you in the morning!
We recorded this very creative piano solo, well trio, yesterday night.
If you think it’s a joke, it’s not. It’s the ending of the song “Reconcile”.
We are very busy recording today, that’s why it takes a bit longer to update our blog.
We finished the song “Change” and are working on “You are missing” at the moment.
Sam has left the building!
By the time you read this, Sam’s probably already at home lying on the couch hugging a pillow because he’s missing us like hell.
Werner and Charles are already in action recording us while we play the song “Change”.
We are done for today!
We recorded 2 songs today, “Reconcile” and “Parallel Universe”. That’s just great.
Tomorrow, we will start our first session with Werner Pensaert and Charles Stoltz. We are very excited about that.
But first, good night and sleep well.
Werner Pensaert arrived right after diner tonight and is checking out the studio right now.
We have just finished the song “Parallel Universe” and are recording a very dissonant piano solo for “Reconcile”. Great fun!
We are very, very sad that Sam will leave us tomorrow morning and return to Luxembourg.
But have no fear! We will still go on recording until Sunday.
Sam will be replaced by Charel Stolz and Werner Pensaert. Charel just arrived and we expect Werner to be here around 22:00.
Of course, we will miss Sam dearly for the rest of our session here in Bath…
The title says it all.
By the way, Anne Faber who stayed with us and filmed us for the last 2 days, had to return to London. Thanks for your visit!
Yesterday, Emmanuelle our Cello player popped in to say hello.
Cello will be recorded in Luxembourg in September. So for Emi, it was pure vacation!
We’ve started today around 10:00 and continued to work on “Reconcile”.
Oh, and yes, it’s raining.
After all, we are in the UK.
We worked late tonight but we got a lot of work done.
We finished the song “To the start” and made some live takes (without click) of the song “Reconcile”.
We’ll see what we think of it tomorrow morning when we listen to it with fresh ears. Right now, it’s bedtime. Good night…
After diner, Daniel and Lento walked to the nearest shop in Box with the assignment to buy some chips and sugar stuff…
Great success!
We are progressing very well with the song “To the start”. Guitars and bass are almost done.
Here’s a sample.
Jérôme is the man when it comes to cooking. Thanks to him, we have the power to record from early morning until deep in the night!
After our excellent meal, Moarc rediscovered his love for animal photography.
Marc is good to birds…(for german speaking people: use Google translator, English to German)
By the way: we named the swan Fernand. If you know his real name, please contact us.
We just finished “Say what’s on your mind” and we are pretty happy with it.
Also, we were joined by Anne Faber who will film us and make a small feature about our recordings.
But right now, we’re off to lunch. Bon apétit!
Yesterday in the depth of the night, Daniel recorded the acoustic guitars for “Say what’s on your mind”.
Right now, James is recording electric guitars for the same song.
Yesterday was a long, very long day.
We finished the song “Away” (almost) and made a live recording for the song “Say what’s on your mind”.
Here’s a short film where you see Sam setting up the sound for the live recording.
The video’s quite dark because it was quite late.
We have now stopped to work on “Away”. Our ears needed a break from that song.
We are right now setting up the sound to record the song “Say what’s on your mind”. We will make a first live recording in a couple of hours.
We finished recording guitars for the song “Away”.
We will now let Moarc out of his cage to record the rhodes for the same song.
He looks hungry for action!
Down here, you have images of the 5 rooms we are sleeping in for the whole week.
The first one who can tell which room belongs to which person wins one copy of our last album “walk under water” as well as one copy of the new one, when it’s out.
You have exactly 24 hours to make your votes, so tomorrow 14:00 UK-time or 15:00 central european time.
Write us your guess under the pictures on our Facebook page
And here are the funny faces…James and Lento are sharing a room and bed…for unknown reasons.
It has to be some sort of a bromance…
James is muffling guitar strings with his sock.
Our ears enjoy it more than our noses…
We started our 3rd day here at the Real World Studios.
We are currently working on the guitars for the song “Away”.
Lento has already finished the bass for the song. Lucky boy!
Boy, that was a long day!
We finished the 2nd song and now we’re off to bed.
More adventures in Hi-Fi tomorrow! So, sleep well!
This song’s called “Everything is temporary”. It features a detuned piano, that’s why Moarc’s detuning the Grand in this video.
Lento has just finished recording the bass to the song “Another word”.
Now he can go back to his main activity: being awesome. It’s a full time job.
The weather’s pretty nice here in Bath and even though we have lots to do, we take the time to feed the swan.
We are pretty nice people…the swan said.
Even though it’s Sunday, we are very busy recording guitars for the song “Another word”. No time to be lazy!
Daniel and James just finished their parts and now it’s Marc’s turn to play some Moogs.
Enjoy your Sunday and don’t waste it reading blogs on the internet…on second thought, please do waste your time reading our blog!
It’s getting late in Bath and we’re close to finishing our first day of recording.
We recorded the drums for the first 3 tracks and we’re pretty happy about that.
Tomorrow’s another day, so good night and sleep well.
We know, now it’s too late to rehearse. We do it anyway…
By the way, Lento is wearing the hoody to gain a maximum of street cred.
We’re setting up the drums and the guitar amps right now…and no, Sam is not spitting on Mich from above.
First couples are forming…”…so, you come here more often? Did we actually meet before?”.
We just got up and had breakfast. As you see, Sam’s already with us. We’re now getting ready to set up the drums and get going.
After 14 hours of travel (and many unplanned detours), we finally arrived at the Real World Studios.
We started to make a big mess out of the wood room by putting all our stuff in it.
Now sleep well and we’ll be starting early tomorrow around 09:00. See you then!
As we were planing our travel to the studio, we imagined it to be something epic. Nothing is big enough, right?
Different ideas were brought up…
This is what we ended up with…
Thanks to Nintendo, years of experience in putting small boxes into bigger ones made us achieve what no one believed to be possible:
Getting all our gear in our way too small vehicle
In this picture: too much stuff / not enough space.
After a couple of hours of trial and error, we finally made it fit.
Bad
Good
We’ll be posting every step of the recordings of our new album right here.
We’ll be heading out to the Real World Studios in Bath/UK on Friday morning.
You can expect the first posts on Thursday night 9th August 2012!
